Syren "Dehumanized"
Album Review
Devolution Magazine
Issue 19

First thing first- traditional metal heads shouldn't get
too excited. “Dehumanized” is not the work of South
American tub-pounders of the same moniker. This
Syren, an acoustic-centric, Nevada trio, are instead
decidedly lady-shaped with this self-produced and self-
released debut offering thirteen thoughtful, evocative
and poignant ballads more likely to have you stroking
your chin than thrashing your arms. Essentially a
classic rock sound blended with a hint of country, a
pinch of prog and a dash of folk, this is a fine selection
of well crafted numbers certain to appeal to anybody
seeking something a little more sedate – frontwoman
Erin Bennett's twisting tales of love lost and found will
haunt you long after the record runs it's course, never
more than on such quasi-epics as “Take To The Stars:
and “Happy Valley.” An excellent addition to any CD
collection especially if you're looking for something
soothing to warm those long winter months.
