Syren are an all female Alternative/Rock trio that hails from the USA and UK and is made up of members Erin
Bennett (Guitars/Vocals,) Amanda Smith-Skinner (Fretless Bass, Electric Upright)and Jo Heeley (Drums, Percussion,
Backing Vocals).
In 2006 Syren erupted into the United States' underground music scene playing some of America's top rock venues
and impressing audiences with their powerful songs, addictive melodies and unbelievable musicianship. Demand of
the band's original music and confident performance led Syren from Detroit to Cleveland all the way to Panama City
and kept them playing live shows 5days a week all over the country. Because of this demand Syren developed a
reputation in the Mid-West ,USA of being one of the only unsigned band's around to make a living purely off of their
music.
In 2008, after two years of hard work and non-stop gigging, Syren were offered sponsorship from companies such as
Hartke Amplification, Rain Song Graphite Guitars and Danmar Percussion. This recognition in the music world called
for them to finally record their debut album,'Dehumanized.' The album, made up of 13 original tracks, was recorded
in Detroit by John Brandt at Song Garden Studios and immediately began collecting rave reviews in music press.
After the release of 'Dehumanized' in February 2008, Syren were offered a tour of the United Kingdom and The
Netherlands to promote the album. After the 'Dehumanized Album' tour ended in September, Syren continued
playing with a non-stop show schedule, all the while growing as musicians and maturing as songwriters. This hard
working principle caught the eye of 60s Rock band, Hawkwind who offered Syren two consecutive support slots on
their Winter Tour 2008.
Throughout 2009, Syren continued playing shows both in the UK and The Netherlands, broadening their fan base and
honing their skills. Their efforts were noticed by Dordrecht's 'Dordtenaar Newspaper' when Syren stole the spotlight
in Dordrecht's Big Rivers Festival '09. From this more opportunities for the band in The Netherlands started to spring
forward and the success caused the band to uproot from England and move to Noord Holland where they now are
based. After having only been in Holland for 6 months their popularity within the Dutch music scene has grown
immensely and has caused them to be under high demand in venues throughout the country. Syren are still playing
live shows throughout The Netherlands, although their focus has shifted to the recording of their next studio album
which will feature more great original music and is due to be released this year.
